The Healthy Foodie
In a web development course, we were provided copy for designing a recipe’s Home Page, then tasked to give it a website name and create an identity around it, without the use of photography or additional content.
For inspiration and ideation, I researched cooking websites and home pages that I felt had successful layouts for informative content, then sketched rough drafts for the Home Page, and later designed a low-fidelity wireframe and site map to better conceptualize what the website would offer.
I quickly noticed that the recipes were health-conscious with exciting twists, so I branded the website, ‘The Healthy Foodie.’ I created a color palette that would convey an organic theme, supplemented by a personable, handwritten-style font for the website’s name and primary heading. I designed the layout into columns to entice readers with previews of what they could discover on the website, rather than using a full-width, stacked layout. With the ‘Featured Recipe’ being most important, I positioned that at left for natural reading, and added a sidebar of additional tips and recipes for viewers to check out.
