United We Code
While taking a web development course, we were tasked with concepting a fictional organization for a cause we are passionate about, by designing and developing its Home page. Through research, sketching, and wireframing, I named the organization and developed its story, mission, and brand identity.
‘United We Code’ is a woman-founded organization that offers educational courses in tech for women, along with a women’s-only community for events, networking, and friendship. Focusing in development, design, and other technical and analytical careers, UWC helps women build the skills necessary to emerge into a growing industry, while providing them with the support of a curated social network.
Along with designing the interface, I researched competitor bootcamp and event websites, as well as provided the imagery, copywriting, and statistics found throughout the page.
I knew I wanted to use a hero image of women collaborating at a desk, to directly articulate the mission of the website, followed by relevant statistics of how the tech industry is changing through women. It was then important for me to use the Home Page for defining common careers in development, design, and tech, ending with a list of upcoming courses and events to attract prospective students and women looking to grow their community.
